History
Michael Dalton first became a force in financial planning education in 1981, when he was solicited to teach retirement plans and retirement planning at the Loyola University and College for Financial Planning-CFP® Programs. From 1990 to 1993, he served on the CFP Board, was chairman of the Board of Examiners for the CFP Board and served on the Board of Governors. Michael Dalton was pivotal in helping to create the comprehensive exam—the essential part of what sets the CFP credential apart from other credentials in the financial services industry.
In 1995, Michael, James and Donna Dalton formed Dalton Publications LLC, and authored the first comprehensive review for the CFP Exam to be made available to aspiring CFP professionals. In 2002, Dalton Publications was acquired by BISYS Inc., and integrated into BISYS Education Services—along with several other education companies, including—Pictorial, Examco, and Dover International. Following a leadership change in 2007, BISYS sold its education services division to Kaplan. Today, Kaplan's CFP Exam Review product consists largely of the materials written by Michael and James Dalton, back in 1995 through 2002.
In 2004, Michael, James and Donna Dalton created Money Education, directed by the vision of delivering financial educational and reference materials that are accurate, complete and easy to understand. Money Education texts mitigate the student and professional need for multiple sources to find quality answers. Every Money Education text is updated and improved on a regular basis to help those helping others satisfy their financial goals.
